Ranked: The Top 10 Most Memorable Characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy

No matter how much havoc is happening in the universe, there are always characters that stand out and help our Shepard complete the mission. With its three parts, the Mass Effect trilogy boasts a wide variety of characters - each with their own personalities, backstories, and specialties that will capture your heart. Here, we rank the 10 best characters from the Mass Effect trilogy that you simply can't leave behind.

10 Thane Krios

If you love mysteriousness, then Thane Krios is your man. Despite being an assassin, he has a certain charm to him that makes him lovable. The Drell might be quiet for the most part, but when Thane starts talking, it's easy to see why he made it to the top 10. And let's not forget the fact that he's a great asset to the team during battles!

9 Mordin Solus

This Salarian loves a good conversation - like, literally loves it. His eccentric manner of speaking will surely get on your nerves sooner or later, but once you get to know him better, you'll learn to understand and appreciate Mordin Solus. He's a genius in the field of tech, but he's also not afraid of getting his hands (or claws?) dirty in fight!

8 Kasumi Goto

Kasumi Goto not only has the looks, but she also has the skill. Despite being a downloadable content character, she feels like she was always a part of the team. Kasumi is a master thief and she can be incredibly sociable if you earn her trust. During battle, she shines in one-on-one combat - really, who wouldn't want to have her on the team?

7 Urdnot Wrex

Urdnot Wrex is all about loyalty - you can always rely on him to be in your corner. He is an essential asset during battles and his fight against the genophage blight is quite moving. In the end, you'll find yourself asking a question: "Will I be there for him?"

6 Joker

Even though Joker isn't one to join you in missions, he still deserves to be in the top 10. He's the loyal pilot of the Normandy and you can almost count on him to lighten up the mood in tough times. His relationship with EDI is also adorable - watching them banter like an old married couple is heartwarming!

5 Miranda Lawson

Miranda Lawson has her own personal struggles, but when faced with a mission, she never forgets her loyalty to Shepard. She's incredibly skilled in biotics, making her an asset both inside and outside the battlefield. Though she might seem to be aloof, her passion for her family and the mission is more than evident.

4 Garrus Vakarian

Garrus Vakarian is the definition of being a "bro" - funny, loyal, and talented! This Turian excels in sniper combat and he's a vigilant that's out to serve justice by any means necessary. His relationship with his best friend Shepard is something to aspire for!

3 Ashley Williams

Ashley Williams is the ultimate human solider - wise, courageous and quite selfless. She's one of the members of the original Normandy crew and she definitely knows how to bring people together. During combat, she'll take on a leadership role and make sure every member of the team is safe. Plus, her witty comments are always a delight.

2 Liara T'Soni

Not all aliens are as scary as they seem to be - and Liara T'Soni is a good example of that. Though she's quite shy and timid at first, she's still a formidable warrior with impressive biotic powers. Even though she had a rocky start with Shepard, she still sticks by our hero right until the very end.

1 Commander Shepard

Of course, this list wouldn't be complete without the one and only Shepard. As the protagonist of the Mass Effect trilogy, he/she leads the squad on their epic journey across the galaxy. Despite his/her inexperience, he/she soon takes on the role of a true leader and carries out the mission to save the galaxy. His/her unwavering will and courage are unmatched.

At the end of the day, everyone has their own favorite characters from the Mass Effect trilogy. But no matter who you choose, you can rest assured knowing that these characters have got your back on the mission.
