Mass Effect Legendary Edition Review - Level Up Gamer Wear

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Review

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a remastered collection of the original Mass Effect trilogy, including all single-player DLCs and graphical enhancements. As a long-time fan of the series, I was excited to see how the remastered version would improve upon the original games.

Visuals

First and foremost, the graphical improvements are stunning. The updated textures and lighting breathe new life into the environments, characters, and cutscenes. The game now runs at a smoother frame rate and supports 4K resolution on compatible hardware, making the game look and feel more immersive than ever before.

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, the controls have been updated to match those of Mass Effect 3, which is a welcome change that makes the overall experience more consistent across the trilogy. Combat is still as enjoyable and strategic as ever, and the addition of some quality of life improvements, such as an updated inventory system, make it easier to manage gear and resources.

Upgraded Character Creator

Perhaps the most significant change, however, is the updated character creator. Players now have more options for customizing their Shepard, including more hairstyles, skin tones, and facial features. It's a small but significant change that allows players to create a more diverse cast of characters and better represent themselves in the game.

In addition to the updated graphics and gameplay, Mass Effect Legendary Edition also includes all single-player DLCs, which were previously only available as separate purchases. This means that players can now experience the complete story of the trilogy, including some of the most memorable and impactful missions and characters, such as Citadel and Leviathan.

Another major improvement is the updated Mako controls. The Mako is a vehicle that players use to explore planets in the first Mass Effect game, and its controls were notoriously clunky and frustrating. In the remastered edition, the controls have been overhauled, making it much more enjoyable to navigate and explore the various planets.

One minor issue I noticed is that the loading times can be a bit long, especially when traveling between planets or loading into cutscenes. However, this is a minor inconvenience and doesn't detract from the overall experience.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is an excellent remaster that successfully updates the original trilogy for modern audiences. The graphical enhancements and gameplay improvements are significant and make the games feel more immersive and enjoyable than ever before. If you're a fan of the series or have never played before, I highly recommend giving this collection a try.
